dCS Adds a £35,000 CD Transport to Its Ultra-Luxury Varèse Music System

The British digital audio pioneer expands its six-figure flagship with a disc spinner built for purists.

Silver electronic device with "dCS" on front, sleek design, in a minimalistic setting. Smooth surface, no visible actions or emotions.

A New Addition to the Varèse Lineup

The dCS Varèse Music System – already one of the most expensive and ambitious hi-fi ecosystems on the planet – now has a new component: the Varèse Transport, a £35,000 ($47,000 / AU$72,000) CD/SACD player.

Designed to integrate seamlessly with the rest of the Varèse range, the Transport continues the dCS philosophy of “Only the Music”, promising playback that eliminates noise, distortion, and vibration while preserving every last nuance of the original signal.

Precision Playback: CDs and SACDs at Their Purest

The Varèse Transport plays standard Redbook CDs in their native 44.1kHz format and SACDs in DSD, ensuring uncompromised digital purity.

Its all-new chassis design makes it the quietest and lowest-vibration disc transport dCS has ever created, and it connects to the Varèse Core via the brand’s bespoke ACTUS interface.

This link allows for bit-perfect transmission with asynchronous audio, control, and timing, while also auto-syncing with either the Varèse Master Clock or the Core itself—no manual setup required.

Engineering Excellence in Every Detail

Like other Varèse components, the Transport’s top, sides, and front chassis are carved from a single billet of aluminium, with constrained layer damping and precision-milled mechanism mounts that minimise resonance and interference.

Inside sits the proven mechanism from the Vivaldi Transport II and Rossini Transport, now with a new mounting method that delivers even lower mechanical noise and cleaner playback.

Seamless Control and Integration

Users can operate the Varèse Transport via the Varèse User Interface, Varèse Remote Control, or the Mosaic ACTUS app. Its single-cable connection to the Core keeps setup elegant while ensuring the highest level of digital fidelity.

The Price of Perfection

At £35,000, the Varèse Transport is far from affordable – but in context, it’s almost “reasonable.” The Varèse Core + User Interface + Remote bundle runs £95,000, and the Varèse Mono DACs are priced at £90,000 per pair.

For the rarefied few building a full Varèse system, the Transport is simply another essential building block in the pursuit of digital audio perfection.

In short: The dCS Varèse Transport isn’t just a CD/SACD player – it’s a statement in precision engineering, luxury design, and absolute sonic purity.
