Dutch & Dutch Unveil the 6c: Compact Streaming Loudspeakers That Redefine Room-Aware Sound

Modern living room with a brown couch, speakers, and a plant. Art on wall, books and vase on table. Bright windows create a cozy mood.

The Dutch & Dutch 6c isn’t just a smaller sibling of the revered 8c — it’s a bold statement in how modern active speakers can adapt to any room and deliver studio-grade precision in a compact, stylish form. With integrated amplification, streaming, and DSP inside, the 6c aims to make traditional passive setups feel outdated.

From 8 Inches to 6 — A Scaled-Down Powerhouse

Dutch & Dutch’s latest creation trims down the 8c’s 8-inch midrange to a 6-inch driver, backed by a single rear-firing 8-inch bass unit. The 6c remains a full-range standmount with the brand’s signature waveguided tweeter and cardioid dispersion design that minimizes reflections from walls.

This engineering wizardry means the 6c delivers consistent, accurate sound — even in rooms without heavy acoustic treatment. As founder Martijn Mensink explains, “Getting the transition right between the frequencies below and above the Schröder point requires a holistic approach, and that’s very much how we design our speakers.”

Taming the Room — Naturally and Digitally

Above the Schröder Frequency (typically 100–200Hz), rooms behave reverberantly, making reflections a problem. Below it, rooms resonate — often causing boomy or uneven bass. The 6c tackles both challenges through a hybrid acoustic and digital solution.

The cardioid pattern of the 6c ensures that low frequencies project forward, skipping problematic front-wall reflections. Unlike some competitors that rely on digital correction (like Kii Audio), the 6c achieves this acoustically — in the analogue domain.

For finer control, the RoomMatching EQ accessible via a web interface allows listeners to tailor output to their exact acoustic environment. Out of the box, it supports Roon, Spotify Connect, and BACCH spatial audio, with Tidal Connect and Qobuz Connect integrations “in the works.”

Design, Finishes, and the Statement System

Despite its compact footprint (38 × 22 × 31 cm), the 6c exudes the same minimalist elegance that made the 8c iconic. It comes in Black or White finishes, with premium Metallic Copper and Metallic Pine options for those wanting a visual statement to match the sonic one.

For those seeking even deeper performance, Dutch & Dutch is developing the 6S bass extension module, designed to integrate seamlessly beneath the 6c. Together, the 6c + 6S form the Statement Six System — a full-range cardioid setup with incredible dynamic headroom and refined room calibration.

A One-Box Hi-Fi Revolution

With built-in streaming, DAC, and amplification, the 6c is a complete hi-fi ecosystem. It’s ideal for listeners seeking reference-level performance without the endless puzzle of separates and cables.

In short, the 6c isn’t just a “lite” version of the 8c — it’s the next evolution of room-aware, high-performance audio, wrapped in a smaller, smarter, and more beautiful package.
