A Long-Awaited Launch Becomes Reality

After months of teasers, national showcases, and an early preview at the Bristol Hi-Fi Show 2025, Rega has officially released its all-new reference pairing: the Mercury pre-amplifier and Solis power amplifier.

Retailing at £13,900 for the pair, the Mercury & Solis duo represents the culmination of nearly 40 years of Rega’s electronics engineering. And starting this week, the first production units are already shipping to UK retailers.

These new components are designed to sit at the top of Rega’s portfolio, perfectly complementing the Aura phono stage, Isis CD players, and the company’s flagship Naia turntable — forming what Rega calls its most complete reference system ever.

Hand-Crafted, Ultra-Quiet, and Built to Reveal Everything

Rega’s goal with the Mercury was clear: build a no-compromise reference pre-amplifier capable of extracting every last nuance from a system without adding noise or coloration.

Key Engineering Highlights

  • Ultra-low noise floor for maximum dynamic range

  • Designed to preserve micro-detail in quiet recordings

  • Nearly four decades of solid-state circuit design refinement

  • Full-featured modern architecture:

    • High-performance DAC

    • Discrete headphone amplifier

    • Full-colour IPS display

  • Meticulously hand-assembled in England

Rega emphasizes that the Mercury’s job is to stay out of the way — offering a clean, transparent signal path that protects subtle details rather than masking them.

Rega’s Most Ambitious Power Stage to Date

If the Mercury is the brains, the Solis is the brawn — a powerful, hand-built stereo power amplifier engineered to drive even the most demanding loudspeakers with ease.

What Sets Solis Apart

  • Four years of obsessive circuit development and refinement

  • Designed and built entirely in England

  • Ultra-high-current output stage for controlling challenging speakers

  • Precision-selected components for accuracy and clarity

  • Perfect match for the Mercury pre-amp

  • Also compatible with the Rega Aethos stereo amp

A major engineering decision was splitting the system into separate pre- and power-amplifier chassis. This isolates the low-voltage circuitry from the high-current output stage, dramatically reducing interference and ensuring:

  • A cleaner signal path

  • Lower noise

  • Greater overall transparency

Why This Duo Matters

The Mercury & Solis represent a milestone for Rega — their most polished, mature expression of analogue engineering, digital integration, and handcrafted build quality.

Audiophiles have been waiting for a true reference-grade Rega amplification chain.

Now, it’s finally here — designed to elevate the performance of the brand’s top-tier sources and deliver an engaging, accurate, noise-free listening experience.
