TEAC Unveils PD-507T – A Premium Reference-Grade CD Transport Built for Pure, Uncompromising Playback

Japanese hi-fi legend TEAC is doubling down on disc-based perfection with the launch of its PD-507T CD transport, a machine designed to deliver “uncompromising reference-grade” CD playback to discerning audiophiles. Part of TEAC’s acclaimed Reference 500 series, this new transport focuses solely on extracting the cleanest possible digital signal—leaving the digital-to-analog conversion to the DAC of your choice.

A Pure CD Transport for the Digital Age

Unlike traditional CD players, the PD-507T is not a full player. Instead, it’s a dedicated CD transport that reads the disc with extreme precision and outputs a pure digital signal to an external DAC (such as TEAC’s matching UD-507).

  • Supports audio CD, CD-R, and CD-RW playback.

  • Outputs via coaxial and optical digital connections for maximum flexibility.

  • Ideal for pairing with high-end DACs for true reference-grade sound.

By separating the transport from the DAC, TEAC aims to minimize electrical interference, preserving the integrity of every bit of your music.

Precision Engineering Inside and Out

At the heart of the PD-507T is TEAC’s proprietary CD-5020A transport mechanism, renowned for its rugged reliability in broadcast environments. This mechanism is custom-tuned with a specially designed drive circuit to deliver a more refined and natural sound than previous models.

  • Semi-floating mounting architecture reduces vibration for a more open soundstage and improved tonality.

  • Separate power supplies for each clock and digital output ensure a purer signal path.

  • Unused digital outputs can be switched off entirely to lower noise and interference.

For those chasing ultimate precision, the PD-507T offers an upgrade path with an external 10MHz master clock generator (like TEAC’s CG-10M-X) for extremely accurate clocking and even more lifelike timing.

Premium Design & Build

Staying true to the Reference 500 aesthetic, the PD-507T features a luxurious chassis with a semi-floating top panel, available in silver or black finishes.

  • A warm amber OLED display matches the rest of the Reference line.

  • On-unit playback controls, a physical power toggle, and a full remote control provide an elegant user experience.

This is hi-fi minimalism at its finest, with every design choice made to serve sonic purity.

Price & Availability

The TEAC PD-507T CD transport will be available in Q4 2025, priced at £1,299 / $1,700 / €1,299. While it’s compatible with any high-quality DAC, TEAC naturally recommends pairing it with their own UD-507 DAC ($2,099 / £1,583 approx) for the ultimate Reference 500 system synergy.

Why It Matters

In an era of streaming dominance, TEAC is proving that the compact disc still reigns supreme when treated with the respect it deserves. The PD-507T is not just a CD player—it’s a precision instrument, engineered to extract every last ounce of musical detail for audiophiles who demand nothing less than perfection.
