Tiny, Wireless & Surprisingly Good! Arylic LP10 Streamer Review

Updated: 7 days ago

Arylic as a company have a great reputation among DIY circles. They build quality and cheap components for you to build your amps, active speakers etc. And them joining the party with their own components was just a matter of time.

Arylic LP10 Overview

Black electronic device labeled "LP10" on white speaker, next to a vase of flowers on wooden surface. Moody lighting, gray background.

And I have been following them for some time, and Arylic was kind enough to send me their cheap streamer for review. Actually one comment that made me think about reviewing this, is a guy explaining how he uses his Arylic LP10 in car. And I thought how cool would it be to have music streamer to improve my music on the go.

It is all to the wireless capabilities of this device. Many cheap streamers that I own require wired connection. It makes sense. I have to say that this is a pure streamer transport, there is no DAC inside.

It is a very small device, it can integrate anywhere. It is a nice looking modern device, but full plastic, which is something that I cannot fault it in this price range. It is also very light. But I really love the screen. It is a small OLED panel, which means that is useful only when really close to it. But if it fits right next to you on a desktop, you can read the info on it. It shows connections, channels, volume and most importantly songs that are currently playing.

You have 4 physical buttons at top. And if you know me, you know that I always prefer buttons at top. You have play/pause, volume up and down and turn on and off device. Nothing much to say except they are very nice.

Behind the device there is a limited option of inputs and outputs, but could be all you need for someone. You have line in and line out, you have optical out, USB and LAN. The device charges via USB.

One thing that is missing here is coaxial input, as I think many people have coaxial rather than optical cables at home. And I think that coaxial cables are a bit better, even if optical are cleaner.

You will have to install their application called Go Control. It is a very simple looking app, that you will use to jump start your streamer and to enable Chromecast, which you will use to connect to Tidal, Spotify etc. And you can play files via USB from the app as well. Also if you have many Arylic devices you can multi control it via this app.

But I found this app lacking in so many areas, that I never used it.

For who this amp is best suited

Black audio device on wooden desk, displaying Bluetooth connection. Potted plant to the left, wooden headphone stand on the right.

Now knowing all the basics, I have to ask myself and answer it in this review for who this amp is for.

And I think the answer is unsurprising that this streamer can be applied for lot of scenarios. But I think it mostly improves the sound quality. Is that if you listen music via PC, via TV or have some amps, or similar and you stream via Bluetooth.

At that moment this streamer drastically improves your listening experience. It makes your music High Fidelity. Add some FLACs, DSDs, some good quality source material and you will see tangible improvements.

The sound that is coming from this streamer is very balanced and neutral. Which means it goes well with every gear. But what it does to improve your sound is that it takes information from your source, organize it that your speakers are capable to create layers and soundstage out of it. It truly evolves your music higher.

That means more details, more transparency and more separation on soundstage. Your music will blossom.

There is enough details now in both low end and in upper end for it to explain the production and mastering of compositions. If you pair it with decent DAC you get even better results.

More clarity and soundstage open. But the greatest aspect of sound is that it truly remains uncluttered and spacious in mids. That is a good thing, as it will not impose its will, rather help you understand and hear better music you are hearing.

It will be your speakers or amp that will be the main man here to drive the color of sound.

And that neutrality brings a lot of true colority in sound. Which is also great.

So whoever adds this in its system. Will it be HIFI or desktop will see improvements in sound I guarantee that. And it is small, wireless and cheap. You can take it to your summer house with you, you can take it in your office, at your friends place, or at your home and it will work as device that enhances and improves your sound.

vs. Wiim Pro

Two black electronic devices on a turntable. The left device has minor symbols, and the right displays "LP10." Beige background.

Now I usually at this moment try to compare it with other devices, and there is only one on my mind. And that is reference streamer in this price range Wiim Pro. And whoever comes and knocks Wiim Pro is a budget champ.

Now to speak about obvious differences. Wiim is much larger and heavier device. It does not have a screen, and is not wireless like Arylic. It is 50 euros more expensive.

Now I have to say that Wiim will stay at top for now. And there are two major reasons for that. First the really important one is the sound. Wiim is just so much dynamically richer, than Arylic. It goes lower it goes higher than Arylic. While mids are the same, that richness just makes the listening experience better.

And because of that it helps soundstage become wider and longer.

Second thing is application of Wiim is probably the best in the game, there is a lot of things to love here. And inside you get Equalizing, and you get some quasi room correction when paired with your phone.

While you pay more you get more. Where I see Arylic is more applicable is just its ease of use, portability and wirelessness. As Arylic almost fit better at my work table than Wiim. And I did not need to bother with LAN cable to connect it to my devices. I really liked that I can write, and code and have this device that is displaying artist and track list. It made it more interactive. And because it is wireless I can place it wherever I want, so really close to me, so physical controls are easily accessible.

And the obvious while not a big device Wiim is much bigger than Arylic so portability is in favour of Arylic.

Conclusion

Black audio device with "TIDAL" text sits on a silver stereo. Red LED indicators and a large silver knob are visible. Modern, minimalist setting.

Conclusion is that Arylic might not be the best streamer sound wise. And is not something that I can easily recommend to serious audiophiles. But there is a lot of practicality and ease of use that LP10 offers, that if it is not much to spend 99 dollars on it, will bring. I see this as a pocket enhancer. Where there is no room or place for serious system, or money. You just pop it out from your pocket and voila better sound.

It is a very good sound, that makes everything just so much more layered and open. It will improve your audio experience so much more.

Bring it in your car, bring it on your work, and it will do wonders. As you can always bag it and return it. You don’t need extra cables. Go to friends house, show them that fancy FLACs how can they sound good. Or just at your resort or summer house.

In that sense it does many things good, and you should actually seriously think about it. You can get far worse for 99 dollars.

Thanks for watching!
